PRIMARY PURPOSE

Performs routine and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures for patients as directed, providing physicians diagnostic tools with which to treat patients.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:
- None.

Experience:
- Must have four (4) years of technical Neurodiagnostic experience.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must be registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist (ABRET) as a registered EEG Technologist (REEGT) –OR–
- Must be registered by ABRET as a Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (REPT) –
OR–
- Must be certified by ABRET in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM) –
OR–
- Must be registered by American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) as a
Registered Electrodiagnostic Technologist (REDT) –OR–
- Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)
as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
- Must have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
o American Heart Association
o American Red Cross Rescuer
o Military Training Network.

Skills or Special Abilities:
- Must be able to perform routine and advanced Neurodiagnostic procedures
- independently following established department procedures.
- Must be able to respond appropriately in all patient-related situations.
- Must be able to assist physicians during procedures requiring specialized techniques.
- Must be able to work with personal computers including word processing, spread
- sheets and databases.
- Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill
- patients.
- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Responsible for the performance and monitoring of routine, complex and special Neurodiagnostic procedures for use by physicians as a diagnostic tool. Assist physicians with special procedures as needed.

2. Assists with training new employees to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities.

3. Maintains a positive working relationship with other employees, physicians, patients and
family members to ensure patients’ comfort and expediency of testing procedures

4. Assists with special projects and monthly quality management monitoring.

5. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment to ensure effective operation.

6. Follows established infection control guidelines.

7. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.

8. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.

9. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
